In an interview with the New York Times detailing Joe Biden’s post-vice presidency plans, Hunter Biden, the vice president’s son, said he wants his father to launch a bid for the White House — and soon.
“If it was my decision alone, just my decision alone, which it isn’t, we’d be running for president starting tomorrow,” Hunter Biden said in the article, published Thursday. “I’m not kidding.”
Biden has not ruled out a 2020 presidential campaign. He joked with reporters last year that he is “not committing not to run.”
“I am not committed to anything,” Biden said at the time. “I learned a long time ago, fate has a strange way of intervening.”
Biden ruled against a run for president in 2016 in the wake of the death of his elder son, Beau Biden, who had been battling brain cancer.
