Paul Ryan’s Approval Rating Plummets

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s failure to deliver on President Donald Trump’s agenda has sent his approval rating into a tailspin as nearly a majority of Americans disapprove of his job performance, a new Bloomberg National Poll shows.

A whopping 48 percent—nearly a majority—view Ryan in a negative light, while just 36 percent view him in a positive light in the Bloomberg poll released Tuesday. The poll was conducted from July 8 to July 12 and represents a near mirror flip from Ryan’s standing back in December when 47 percent looked at him positively and 31 percent viewed him negatively.

“It would be hard to find a Republican who has suffered more than House Speaker Paul Ryan as Congress and President Donald Trump have struggled to turn GOP promises into reality,” Bloomberg’s Anna Edgarton and John McCormick wrote on Tuesday, adding:

More people now view the House speaker in a negative light rather than a positive one, 48 percent to 34 percent, according to a Bloomberg National Poll, conducted July 8-12. In December, 31 percent held a negative view, while 47 percent looked at him favorably. It’s a dramatic turn for one of the Republican Party’s biggest stars and its 2012 vice presidential nominee. The approval rating decline for Ryan is the largest among GOP leaders measured by the Bloomberg survey — and exceeds the drop in approval for the party, Congress and Trump.

Pollster J. Ann Selzer, who conducted the survey, said this is a remarkable drop-off for Ryan.

  1. Well, I wonder WHY he’s negatively viewed by so many?? It couldn’t have to do with his rebellion against Mr Trump, & the people that voted for him, could it?? Maybe he’ll get mad, & retire!

  2. I have never figured out how this Rino could have ever been voted into the Speakers position in the first place and then be voted in again after what he did in his first term as speaker is just beyond what I can fathom. He is nothing but Rino, a traitor, this just shows how deep corruption is in the Washington, District of Criminals.

  3. It is obvious right from the start that Ryan was opposed to support Trump. I was against him being selected as Speaker and he was so distant and independent that he almost made them beg him to take the Speaker position, There is little doubt that he is a “Closet anti Trumper” and it will be difficult for the President to reach his agenda with Ryan as Speaker. Don’t know about McConnell either. He gets great reviews as a person that can get things done but all I see is him being in defeat with almost everything the Republicans try to do. We need two leaders in their place that will go to the mat with the “left” and slug it out until their is a winner.

  4. I have NEVER understood why Ryan was voted speaker again when there was talking of firing him the first time he had the position because he seemed to be a Democrat!!! Ryan has never been anything but a RINO. He and John McCain are both traitors to conservative ideas. Ryan needs to Go!!!!
