As debate surrounding the amnesty of millions of illegal immigrants wraps itself in a cloak of human rights and anyone voicing economic or national security concerns is immediately shut down with cries of racism, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio brings up the one issue no one is talking about: drug trafficking.
In an interview with WND.com, Arpaio points out the obvious, that the push for amnesty is fueled by Democrats’ desire to legalize millions of people they assume will vote Democrat.
“That’s common sense,” said Arpaio. “I don’t think that’s something that nobody knows. You make them here legally so they can vote.”
The sheriff’s statement is confirmed by what former immigration adviser to President Obama, Eliseo Medina, was caught on tape saying back in 2009:
“We have to figure out how we can expand the coalition of people who care about these issues [immigrant issues] and the direction of America…In the last election, we had the largest turnout of Latino voters in history, and everything tells us these voters fully intend to become engaged into the elections in the future.
They have tasted what it is like to participate and win and they are not going to go away… when they voted in November, they voted overwhelmingly for progressive candidates. Barack Obama got two out of every three voters that showed up.
So, there is two things that matter for the progressive community: Number One, the progressive community needs to be solidly on the side of immigrants. That will solidify and expand the progressive coalition for the future.
Number Two, we reform the immigration laws, it puts twelve million people on the path to citizenship and eventually voters…. We’ll create a governing coalition for the long term, not just an election cycle.”
With the true impetus behind Obama’s executive amnesty for illegals revealed and out of the way, Sheriff Arpaio points to one very important subject that no one in Washington D.C. seems to want to address.
“Ninety-nine percent” of those arrested for bringing drugs into Maricopa County, Arizona are illegal aliens,” according to Arpaio. “Everybody talks about the border related to illegal immigration. Can’t they throw in another little issue just for kicks? And say, oh by the way, tons of drugs are coming across the border too.”
Stated Arpaio: “Everyone talks about immigration. What about the drugs destroying our young people? Heroin is increasing. So if I were advising the (Republican) candidates, I’m sure they will be calling me even though I’m taking heat again, I’d say start talking about the drug problem coming from Mexico. … Forget just the illegal immigration. Put it together. There is a combination of both problems. That’s what I would talk about.”
He added, “Where’s the president? How come he is not talking about the drugs coming across the border?”
